Purpose:The purposes of the association are: (1) to represent the medical profession in the Pacific region, (2) to provide information to regional medical associations, PBMA members, health care providers and the general public related to medicine and public health, and (3) to establish guidelines for professional conduct and performance. Mission:The mission of the association is: (1) to provide a network throughout the Pacific region for medical practitioners to promote high standards of medical care and public health care policy and practice, (2) to establish and maintain continuing medical education activities for physicians and health care providers practicing in the Pacific region, and (3) to support the formation of local medical associations throughout the Pacific region. In support of this mission, the association will function as an umbrella organization to facilitate cooperation and coordination of activities between medical associations, societies and practitioners from the following Pacific Island countries: American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau (collectively the “Pacific Basin”). With approval of a majority of PBMA Regular Members, the association may expand its efforts to include medical associations and societies from other Pacific Island countries and territories. |
Annual ConferencePage Update: July 18, 2007 THE 12TH PBMA CONFERENCE Theme: “Emerging and Re-Emerging Infectious Diseases” Dates: August 1-3, 2007 Venue: Marshall Island Resort, the Republic of the Marshall Islands Working Committees: Planning: Drs. Bisili, Kasa, & Kenner Please contact the working committees at e-mail: mims_docs@yahoo.com for any queries. FYI. Just a few minor logistics to iron out before your arrival. 1. For those who will be staying at the MIR and will be paying the conference (room) rates of $99.12 (single occupancy) and $118 (double occupancy), this is inclusive of a complimentary breakfast (you're going to > need this for the first day, since our opening ceremony will start late in > the morning). Morning and Afternoon Refreshments will be provided. 2. For those who wish to bring your own laptops, we will set up a WIRELESS Network (High Speed Internet Connection - HSIC, @ 512kbps) for you to use at your convenience (at no cost) during the conference. We will also provide extra laptops in case you are not able to bring yours. We will have our IT staff on hand to provide assistance if needed. (Please note that this will only be available at the conference venue, and not in your hotel > rooms.) 3. Your conference packet(s) will be given to you > upon arrival when you check in to your hotels. 4. And finally, our entertainment committee would like to request that each jurisdiction prepare a small number (dance or song, etc) to perform at our final social event. THIS IS NOT OPTIONAL. hehehe!!
